Tantric Yoga: A Holistic Approach
Tantric yoga is a holistic approach to understand the cosmological force with the study of macrocosm in the perspective of microcosm. It offers a realistic mode to realize the highest principles of philosophy within the periphery of a regular life. The philosophy of Tantric yoga is to learn the entire tree of life despite limiting itself into a single branch of the tree. Here the tree implies the microcosm which is a wise assembly of assorted constituents connected together by the virtue of a unifying law known as dharma. The aim of Tantric yoga is to understand this law governing inherently all the elements in nature. Principles The principle of Tantric yoga is to develop awareness in all the regimes of psyche senses – conscious, subconscious and unconscious states. In order to attain this, we need to go through deprogramming at the first step followed by reprogramming of mind. According to Tantric philosophy, our birth on a particular time and space settles on our initial programming, which is intrinsically influenced by heredity and extrinsically by environment. If our lives are blessed and we do not find apparent problems while interacting with life’s events, we never show our willingness to alter the course of life. But, when we experience difficulty while moving through the life path or start to search for something not accessible with the help of common knowledge, we tend to change our defined life course. Tantric yoga offers the line and the instruments to the seeker. Tantric yoga helps us to recognize a variety of issues concerning the persuasion of our thoughts and feelings and to go beyond the obstructions to our development arising from unawareness, bigotry, connection to our animal qualities, and self-centeredness. With the help of Tantric yoga, we can learn the inherent principle of nature in order to create peace, harmony and order with the cosmological forces. Philosophy This cosmological plane is the outcome of two opposite principles, one is static and the other one is dynamic. The former is called Shiva, while the later is known as Shakti. The combination of these two principles is what forming the entire universal plane, referred to as Shiva-Shakti. Every single element in the nature is evolved on the basis of these two principles. The external part of each creation is dynamic, while the internal part of every creation is static. Shakti has no creation or termination. The energy or Shakti travels in an orderly fashion with changing phases of motion and rest. Thus, the evolution itself is a continuous process of creation, maintenance and obliteration. The motivational power behind the eternal process of evolution is desire or Ichcha-Shakti. This desire exists within Brahman, the nameless, formless and non-characteristic aspects of divine. Tantric yoga assumes Ichcha-Shakti as the principal motivating force of the cosmos, so it does not recommend its aspirants to relinquish desire. Unlike many other spiritual studies Tantric yoga does not consider desire as an obstruction to attain higher consciousness, it asserts that desires are truly natural phenomenon and as long as we are personified, we can not simply avoid them. Tantric yoga provides a wide range of practical tools that we can implement for reprogramming our sense of awareness and desire.
