Why Yoga Is Good For Kids
Yoga for kids is becoming a lot more popular today. This is a thousands of years old form of exercise that brings with it proven benefits to both the body and the mind, which is important since so many youngsters are under a lot of stress. Of course, they are also facing a lot of anxiety and pressure as well. Through yoga some of this tension can be eased as children learn breathing and visualization techniques that help them learn how to concentrate, focus, relax and have self-control. Children can learn this in schools or at dance studios. Herein they will find that yoga is fun, which is good when you consider all of its various benefits. What Yoga Teaches Children Yoga can be specially designed and adapted to teach children many things, including: body awareness; increased flexibility; good listening skills; self-control; increased powers of observation; language skills; coordination; and cooperation. These are vital skills that children need to learn in order to grow up healthy and with a balanced outlook on life. Through yoga children are also able to learn about the environment, nature and how to use and develop their imagination. How Yoga Is Taught To Children All of this is achieved through lots of moving, singing, playing and imitating things. This helps to make it a fun activity. Of course, this can also be very beneficial if your child has ADD/ADHD. This is because yoga is able to provide these children with lots of motor and sensory stimulus. Herein there is a calm and confidence that is brought about that sometimes appears quite miraculous. Parents especially notice this once they learn such postures as the Warrior and Tree pose. Of course, children are like adults in that they too need to relax every once in a while. This is where the relaxing music and visualization techniques of yoga help children learn to focus their breathing. Eventually this breathing will help a child learn how to stay calm and in control whenever they are in a stressful situations, regardless as to where this situation may take place. Conclusion It is never too early to start teaching your child yoga. This will provide your child with a holistic approach to developing a well-rounded, healthy personality. So, it really is a good idea to invest in yoga for your child, regardless as to what age they may be at right now.
